Drugs (Possession and Trafficking)
Criminal offenses involving drugs include simple possession, possession
with intent to distribute, manufacturing, and trafficking. Following
years of declining drug sentences, the punishment for drug related
crimes has increased to include mandatory minimum sentences. Factors
which either enhance or mitigate sentences include the type of narcotic
involved, the quantity, the client’s role in the offense, and
whether the client assists prosecutors in furnishing information
leading to the arrest, prosecution and/or conviction of others.
